Cameron Wahid Allergy Awareness, a not for profit organisation was established in 2016 by Riz Wahid and his wife, Cassandra after the loss of their son Cameron. Cameron tragically died after a severe allergic reaction to dairy whilst on holiday in Italy. Although the restaurant they were visiting was made aware of Cameron's allergy and gave assurances that Cameron's meal would be safe for him, his food in fact contained milk protein. Cameron suffered an anaphylactic reaction shortly after and died 3 days later on the 30th October 2015 in Naples.
Since then Riz and Cassandra, through the support of their family, friends, school and local businesses, have been fundraising in aid of various charities in Cameron's memory.
Riz formed a close relationship with Allergy UK who is the leading national charity dedicated to supporting the estimated 21 million allergy sufferers in the UK. Riz shared his story with Allergy UK and took a keen interest in the many ways Allergy UK were trying to support those with allergies.
In March 2016, Riz became an Ambassador for Allergy UK, to help fundraise and promote allergy awareness within the community in order to improve the lives of those with allergies in Cameron's memory.
